More than 60 treatment protocols have been described for sudden sensorineural hearing loss, but the majority of these are not efficacious. The three most promising treatments include corticosteroids, vasodilators, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Of these, only hyperbaric oxygen has sufficient randomized controlled trials to have a positive meta-analysis Cochrane review. The Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) lists it as an approved condition for the use of HBOT. And yet the FDA still does not approve it. Follow the research and find a HBOT clinic near you especially in the first 3 days as that is when it is the MOST effective.
